Research notes, files, lecture notes, student papers, and personal papers of past professors and alumni of the Columbia University School of Law. Some document their professional careers, such as the papers of Herbert Wechsler. Records of the School of Law include final examination questions and publications. There are also records documenting the International Military Tribunal relating to World War II German and Japanese war crimes.

The Columbia University School of Law was founded in 1858. The Law School now has a full-time faculty of fifty-six, with 950 students enrolled in J.D. of LL.M. programs. The Law Library contains 750,000 volumes and is very strong in foreign and international law. In 1986 a new position of Librarian for Special Collections in Law was created in order to care for rare books and archives.
